Tasks Features In Gmail Lab

According to their official blog site, Gmail announced another one features which named “Tasks” is helping to manage your To-Do-List inside your gmail inbox. It’s now available on Gmail Lab. Without using Remember The Milk (Online to do list and task management) — you can use To-Do-List and manage all of your works list and so on inside the inbox. RememberTheMilk, where you have to install firefox plug-ins and required registrations and now “Tasks” it’s lightweight and easy to manage all things. Just one or two steps way.

Jonathan Terleski says, “Take entering a new task: just click in an empty part of your list and start typing. No buttons to click and it’s saved automatically. Hit Return and you’ve got a new task right there. You can also easily convert emails into tasks: select one or more messages and go to More Actions > Add to Tasks. (Or turn on keyboard shortcuts and use <shift> + t.). We put your tasks in the same kind of window as chats, so they’re visible while you’re scanning your inbox, reading mail, or searching (and in Settings, too!). Just pop your list out into a new window to use Tasks outside of Gmail.”

However, If want to try out this features, go to settings then Lab Tab and enable “tasks” and save it.  That’s it.

Advanced IMAP Features By Gmail Lab

As we know, few months ago Gmail lunched Gmail Lab features. This features mainly using to experimenting new features to sharing with gmail users with most convenient way.

Most recently gmail’s official blog published about Gmail IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) accessing features. Which enabling more control and now it’s available in Gmail Lab. Whenever, you enable this features thus you will get more control. Gmail blog said,
“if you find your mail client choking on a big All Mail folder,” – then you can select your desired folder.

Gmail’s blog said, “The IMAP protocol allows messages to be marked for deletion, a sort of
limbo state where a message is still present in the folder but slated to be deleted the next time the folder is expunged. In our standard IMAP implementation, when you mark a message as deleted, Gmail doesn’t let it linger in that state — it deletes (or auto-expunges) it from the folder right away. If you want the two-stage delete process, after you’ve enabled this Lab, just select ‘Do not automatically expunge messages’ under the ‘Forwarding and POP/IMAP’ tab in Settings.”

Gmail Lab Launched For Experiment Purpose

Google’s service gmail recently introducing gmail labs and they define that gmail user and employees at google both hasn’t time to develop or implement the peoples all ideas. But, from settings you can see a new Gmail Lab Tab where you will see the new upcoming features. You can taste out the service. And all things just for experimental purpose and gmail can anytime close anything without any notifications.

View Gmail Lab ..What’s Going On:

  • Quick Links: Adds a box to the left column that
    gives you 1-click access to any bookmarkable URL in Gmail. You can use
    it for saving frequent searches, important individual messages, and
    more.
  • Superstars: Adds additional star icons. After
    enabling this feature, you can choose which icons you wish to use in
    the “General” Settings page.
  • Pictures in chat: See your friends’ profile pictures when you chat with them.
  • Fixed width font: Adds an option to the reply dropdown menu that lets you view a message in fixed width font.
  • Custom keyboard shortcuts: Lets you customize keyboard shortcut mappings. Adds a new Settings tab from which you can remap keys to various actions.
  • Mouse gestures: Use your mouse to navigate with
    gestures. Hold right-click and move the mouse left to go to a previous
    conversation, move it right to go to the next conversation, and move up
    to go back to the inbox view. Works best on Windows.
  • Signature tweaks: Places your signature before the
    quoted text in a reply, and removes the “–” line that appears before
    signatures. Can’t use this and the “Random signature” Labs feature at
    the same time.
  • Random signature: Rotates among random quotations
    for your email signature. Can’t use this and the “Signature tweaks”
    Labs feature at the same time.
  • Custom date formats: Adds options to the general
    settings page allowing the date and time format to be changed
    independent of language. For example, you can use a 24-hour clock
    (14:57) or show dates with the day first (31/12/07).
  • Muzzle: Conserves screen real estate by hiding your friends’ status messages.
  • Old Snakey: Kick it old school with Old Snakey! Enable keyboard shortcuts and hit ‘&amp;’ from the main page to play a game of snake.
  • Email Addict: Lets you take a break from email and chat by blocking the screen for fifteen minutes and making you invisible in chat.
  • Hide Unread Counts: Hides the unread counts for inbox, labels, etc.
