Get Driving Direction From Google Map Maker

Few months ago Google created maps which is rich and comprehensive maps in 164 countries. Most recently, they  launched new features Google Map Maker which will give you driving directions in different regions and which was not previously available. As well as, you can go forward and edit the directions.

Google’s software engineer Vinay says, “You can get directions from Ho Chi Minh City to Thien Hau Pagoda in Vietnam or Pune City to Khandala in India. In the spirit of Map Maker, you can correct the directions as appropriate. Note that for every turn in the directions, you can edit the intersection details such as name and whether turns are allowed or not (known as turn restrictions).”

PodiPodi – Fastest Interaction On Web

PodiPodi an excellent and unique idea which enabled easiest way to input commands on web. The fastest ways you can interact through typing on keyboard and get results onto your site from different sources.

Based on Shift+Space it will start working on your site. When you type “help” this will interact with the servers and instantly offer flickr, google, google images, youtube, wikipedia and so services. Select anyone – instantly that will gather relevant information in front of you.

Webworkerdaily says, “To add PodiPodi to your own site, you need to embed a bit of jQuery-based javascript. They’re taking applications for beta testers now. It’s an interesting idea, though whether it gets enough traction to become a common convention remains to be seen.”

Youtube developement team released geolocation based google maps, youtube and geolocation features of Google gears which is noted on lifehacker. When your nearest someone uploaded any video on youtube you can see the video on google maps (see on images) but when you input any wrong location info it will show as a real locations which is tracked by startumeme.com. The source code of the application is available for download.

Satellite Imagery For Myanmar [After Nargis Cyclone]

Just recently, Myanmar (Burma) faced a devastating nargis cyclone and on last May ’07, I published a post about to need Support Disaster Relief In Myanmar (Burma) and google enabled a donation page for Burma.

Here some latest information published by Matt Manolides “In the aftermath of the Cyclone Nargis, residents and aid workers are struggling to recover in Myanmar (Burma). Satellite imagery providers DigitalGlobe and GeoEye/CRISP-Singapore have made post-cyclone imagery available and NASA’s MODIS satellite has provided pre- and post-cyclone imagery in order to help disaster relief responders on the ground.

The imagery from these providers is not currently part of Google Earth’s built-in imagery, but is available through this KML layer. It will update automatically as we are able to make more imagery available. ” [via google-latlong]
